Diego felt the world spinning beneath his feet.
“This is impossible…” he whispered.
The old woman looked at him with a mixture of love and pain accumulated over the years.
“They took you when you were just a baby…” she said. “Your father worked for dangerous people. One night they disappeared… and so did you.”
Diego’s heart beat fast.
“I grew up in a rich family…” he murmured. “I was adopted when I was one year old…”
The woman nodded slowly.
“They didn’t stop looking for you… but I knew the truth. Your mother left me a letter… she said that if you ever came back, she would recognize you by your eyes.”
The silence became heavy.

Diego felt like his whole life… wasn’t really his.
“And… Sofia?” he asked in a choked voice.
The old woman lowered her gaze.
“Sofia… your sister.”
The air seemed to disappear.
“What…?”
“She never stopped waiting for you,” he continued. “But something happened years ago. She disappeared… just like your parents.”
Diego took a step back.
Everything fell into place in a terrifying way.
The name.
Emptiness.
The pain he never understood.
It wasn’t a coincidence.
It never was.
He looked at Anita, who was watching him silently, as if she knew that this moment would change everything.
“Why… now?” Diego asked. “Why did you find me today?”
The girl smiled gently.
“You didn’t find me…” she said. “I was looking for you.”
A shiver ran down Diego’s spine.
“Are you looking for me?”
“Yes,” he answered calmly. “Grandma says that when someone is ready to listen… God shows them the way.”
Diego looked at his hands… they were still shaking.
For the first time in years…
he didn’t feel empty.
He felt something more dangerous.
True.
Behind him, the city continued its indifferent noise.
But in that little house…
his life was just beginning again.
And somewhere…
Sofia was still waiting.
