A man planted 1,000 flowers in front of his house for his wife.

They had lived together for decades, but the feelings between the man and woman had only grown stronger. Even serious attempts to break them apart hadn’t succeeded. The couple had spent their entire lives together, raising their children. Their dream was to take a grand trip in their old age, but it had to be canceled.

All this because his wife developed serious health problems. Mrs. Kuoki had almost completely lost her sight due to diabetes. Her emotional state was severely affected; she literally refused to leave the house and severed all her social ties.

Thinking of a way to help his wife overcome her terrible condition, Mr. Kuoki decided to plant a thousand grass cherry trees, his wife’s favorite flowers, in their garden. Within a few seasons, the garden was literally awash in blossoms.

Indeed, Kuoki’s plan worked. His wife began spending more time outdoors, interacting with the locals: they often stopped by the house to take pictures in the beautiful courtyard. Realizing how popular their little shiba-zakur idea had become, they started inviting groups of tourists.
