Maine Coons are simply adorable. Huge and very friendly beauties…

Aren’t they just beauties?

They’re incredibly interesting animals. Cats are certainly handsome, but this particular species is simply stunning in its striking appearance.

The Maine Coon is one of the largest breeds of domesticated cats. Compared to them, regular cats are mere minnows. The first Maine Coon is considered to be a cat named Captain Jenks of the Naval Cavalry.

It was shown at shows in Boston and New York in 1861 and launched the breed’s early popularity, but by the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, Maine Coons were overtaken by the fluffier Persians.

The Maine Coon as a breed survived only because farmers appreciated its size and excellent hunting abilities.

Maine Coons can weigh up to 16 kg (36 lbs), and their length from tail to nose can reach up to 123 cm (48 in). This is the exact height recorded for a cat named Stewie, who was included in the Guinness Book of World Records in 2012.

Indeed, Maine Coons are beautiful; just look at these enormous beauties!
