A hussar jacket, a 2010s leather jacket, a collared trench coat. Outerwear trends for spring

Spring is coming, and the city is filling up with beige trench coats and black overcoats. Classic outerwear styles are certainly wonderful, but there are so many other diverse options. Bomber jackets, blazers, and leather jackets of various cuts—all can be styled beautifully, creating a new look every day. Onliner toured mass-market stores with stylist Angelica Pratsuto in search of spring inspiration.

Hussar Jacket
Oh, that hussar jacket! The season hasn’t even begun, but it’s already become boring thanks to its frequent use on social media. Its hallmarks: uniform details, cords, metal buttons, and epaulette-like shoulders. This jacket is the main trend of spring. In the 2000s, it was popularized by various brands, such as Balmain, as well as rock stars. Today, it’s back as part of a global military renaissance. Angelica Pratsuto explains:

“I recommend not buttoning this jacket up too tightly, but leaving it slightly looser. I like hussar-style jackets with a sporty hem. You could also opt for a midi-length skirt in a mid-rise raincoat fabric. But if you want to take it more classic and relaxed, pair it with wide-leg palazzo pants.”

Trench Coat with a Stand-Up Collar
If you’re tired of the classic beige trench coat, consider a similar beige one with a stand-up collar. The high collar has recently become a staple in all types of outerwear. It refreshes a tired cut and serves an important function: it protects from the wind.

“A trench coat with a stand-up collar is ideally styled with a light bottom,” says the stylist. Regular sweatpants, leggings, capri pants, pajama pants, shorts, or a lingerie skirt will all work,” she says.

Sporty Windbreaker
The high fashion world is currently obsessed with Saint Laurent’s sporty windbreakers, which cost around $2,000. They’re beautiful, no doubt about it. But in these rebellious times, it’s better to invest in something more sustainable than in fleeting trends. And it’s best to buy an affordable windbreaker, which is now abundant both in stores and online.

— Sporty windbreakers can be worn with absolutely everything: jeans, dress pants, pajama pants, pajama-style shorts, lingerie dresses and skirts, capri pants, and leggings. In my opinion, this item is a very versatile wardrobe item and pairs well with many bottoms.

A leather jacket straight out of the 2010s
Remember how long it took us to get used to oversized clothing, but how we got used to it! Tight, bursting-at-the-seams leather jackets have long since disappeared from the wardrobes of those trying to visually keep up with the times. And now, suddenly, they’re back. If you’ve tucked those microscopic jackets away in the back of your closet, dig them out. If you’ve thrown them out, well, you can keep an eye on them in stores again. What does a stylist say?

— Properly placed silhouettes are a fitted silhouette with volume. This jacket is small, so the ideal formula for it is volume at the bottom: Aladdin trousers, a balloon skirt, wide sweatpants, or jeans. Choose your footwear according to your preferences. Loafers, mules, ballet flats, or clogs are all options.

Leather bomber jacket with collar
Puffy and seemingly gathered at the bottom, the voluminous bomber jacket is a fresh silhouette this year. Add a trendy collar and it’s absolutely stunning. Genuine leather has become incredibly expensive in mass-market stores lately. So consider faux leather, which is virtually indistinguishable from genuine leather even under a magnifying glass.

— These jackets can be styled in a classic silhouette, for example, with palazzo pants. You can also play with contrasts: simplicity meets femininity.

A thin batwing bomber jacket
A leather bomber jacket will soon become too hot. There’s a solution: keep the cut, but switch to a lighter fabric. Weightless jackets with batwing sleeves were created specifically for hot days with cool evenings. Ruffles and delicate fabrics add a feminine touch. Incidentally, the trend for this type of outerwear was set by Chloe with last year’s boho-inspired show.

“I love pairing these jackets with dresses, but they can also be worn with any classic trousers, skinny jeans, or skirts,” notes Anzhelika.

Short Suede Jacket
Short suede jackets with neat details are perfect for those who prefer a more understated and businesslike look. Not everyone wants to follow trends and wear fashionable capes, lace skirts, and other statement pieces. Incidentally, faux suede is now being made as natural as faux leather.

Since the jacket in this example is quite structured and semi-fitted, I want some lightness or volume at the bottom. This style would look great with flowing dresses, A-line skirts, culottes, and Aladdin skirts.
