A Moscow flight was canceled because a basketball player couldn’t fit on the plane.

An unusual incident occurred with NBA champion Timofey Mozgov: the basketball player was unable to board a plane due to his height.

The athlete was planning to fly from Moscow to Pskov, where he was scheduled to give a master class for children. However, the flight on the Sukhoi Superjet 100 was cancelled because Mozgov found the cabin too cramped. At 216 cm tall, he couldn’t comfortably fit, given the plane’s height of approximately 212 cm.

Later, a suitable plane was arranged for the basketball player, and he finally reached his destination. Speaking to reporters, the athlete noted that the delay had changed his schedule and he was unable to play with the children. He promised to return for the meeting in May.

Timofey Mozgov is 39 years old. He played in the NBA from 2010 to 2019 and won a league championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Air travel is a truly sensitive topic for many professional basketball players. Belarusian Daniil Borisevich, a player for Grodno-93, once told Onlíner:

“First, we try to sit by the emergency exit. There’s more room there, and you can stretch your legs. Second, if there are empty seats in business class, the flight attendants might be accommodating and let you go there. And if the plane isn’t full, you can stretch your legs across two or three seats. Upon arrival in a new city, we always warm up and stretch. During the trip, some of the guys wear compression socks to improve circulation. Everyone carefully prepares to make the trip as easy as possible. I’m 195.5 cm tall, so it’s okay. Guys taller than two meters suffer more.”
